The 1989 Pichon Lalande is simply stunning and wonderfully complex with seductive aromas of dark fruits, plum, leather, smoked meats, tobacco along with hints spicy peppers which all come together beautifully in the glass. If you can ever get yourself to stop smelling the intoxicating aromas you will only continue to be impressed with the gorgeous soft, silky mouthfeel, remarkable balance and wonderful finesse this offers from start to finish. It is difficult to say how much longer this will continue to show well for, but after a quarter century of age, I can say this is a truly great Pauillac that is drinking perfect right now and is nothing less than an incredible wine to experience. Best through 2017. - January, 2015 (JD)
