The 2009 Château Latour is a simply magical wine and a serious contender for Top Wine from this spectacular vintage. It is showing beautifully at this stage, as it instantly begins to impress with its seductive aromas of fresh ripe blackberries and dark currants that are woven together with exotic spices, tobacco, graphite, gravelly soil and espresso nuances which all take shape in the glass. On the palate this is just as stunning, as it displays a gorgeous full body that is impeccably polished, with remarkable overall structure and balance. It continues impress as it displays remarkable focus and precision all they way through long, velvety finish. Pure and sophisticated, this wine has it all and although it is showing beautiful now, it should continue to evolve and cruise in the cellar for at least another two decades. The 2009 is without question an all-time great vintage from the iconic Chateau.
