CHÂTEAU CHANTELUNE Margaux 2014

Château Chantelune is a small production Margaux made by José Sanfins, who may be best known for his role at Château Cantenac Brown. This is sourced from a small parcel of 40 year-old-vines within a 7-acre vineyard, which is situated on the highest point in Margaux. The 2014 is a remarkable showing, which delivers lovely aromas of blackberries and currants, which are woven together with spices, cherry pipe tobacco and minerals all taking shape beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is richly textured and opulent with a gorgeous mouthfeel. It shows impressive balance and finesse as it heads into the lavish finish. Although sill quite youthful, this already displays many appealing characteristics with wonderful complexities, and I expect it to continue to evolve gracefully over the course of next decade.
