Vieux Château Saint Andre is owned by the Berrouet family. Jean-Claude Berrouet was the producer of Petrus for 50 vintages. His son Jeff now manages Vieux Chateau Saint Andre and uses the same techniques to produce the Merlot here as his family is using at Petrus. The wine itself is superb, showing a wonderful mix of ripe dark cherries, currant, spices and mineral, which burst from the glass. It possesses wonderful concentration and balance along with a velvety finish that lingers on. Today the wine is accessible, but also has lovely ageing potential as well.
