The 2012 Domaine la Soumade Gigondas is composed of 70% Grenache noir and 30% Syrah. It delivers aromas and flavors of black raspberry, dark plums, crushed violets, licorice, herbs, spices and some earthy minerals. On the palate this offers a wonderful sense of freshness through the full body, which shows nice layers and structured around velvety tannins that carry over into the finish. This is an age worthy Gigondas and at this early age there is certainly lots of potential, however it will require at least a few more years before it will hit its stride.
