The 2012 Terre du Lion is an impressive showing from this small, carefully managed property, situated in the heart of Saint-Julien and surrounded by some of the finest second growths in the region. This wine is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and instantly opens with wonderful aromas of ripe black cherries with sweet cassis undertones, followed by pipe tobacco and spring florals along with spices and subtle hints of beef tartare. Beautifully structured and balanced with a gorgeous soft, velvety texture leading up to the lovely round finish. Overall, an astonishing effort which is accessible right now, but should also continue to evolve over the next few years. (Drink 2016-2024) - February 2016 (JD)
