The 2012 Leoville Las Cases is a total success in this vintage. This gorgeous Saint-Julien is composed of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc. It instantly impresses with is striking aromas of blackberries and dark currants which merge together with spices, charcoal, licorice and flowers. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied with plenty of textural richness and notable tannin structure. It is beautifully balanced with wonderful precision and purity through the velvety finish. This is an absolutely fantastic wine from this legendary estate which should become accessible early, and offer a lengthy drinking window that could span close to two decades.
