The 2016 Château Léoville Barton is utterly captivating in this vintage. It is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot opens to pretty aromatics of currants and red berries woven together with sweet exotic spices, pipe tobacco, graphite and fresh florals all releasing from the glass. On the palate this medium-full bodied Saint-Julien continues to impress with its gorgeous plush texture and supportive tannins, along with its outstanding overall concentration. It displays remarkable balance of ripe fruit and bright acidity through the long, precise finish. This has it all, and while it will certainly require some significant cellaring readers will certainly be rewarded in due time with an absolutely beautiful wine.
