The 2015 Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a total knockout in this vintage, and is already extreamly compelling in its youth. Composed of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot this opens to stunning aromatics of ripe blackberries and sweet dark currants woven together with violets, graphite and hints of minerals all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is full, rich and dense, displaying remarkable concentration and tannin structure, as layers of dark fruits expand onto the long, lingering finish. A absolute beauty form the Cathiard family which should thrive for decades in the cellar.
