The 2016 Montes ‘Folly’ Syrah is a scintillating and deep new Syrah that is drinking marvelously in its youth. The nose is heady and hedonistic as this delivers feel chocolate cherry syrup and tar with cigar ash aromatics that enter the fray. Intense and layered with serious viscosity and a plush mouthfeel the wine shows it’s class with decadent dark fruit and mocha flavors with suggestions of of pipe tobacco and leather.
