This is a simply fascinating Malvasia from Meroi, sourced from the Durì parcel in the Zitelle vineyard, which is consists of mineral-rich Eocenic Marl soils known as Ponca, and is situated at 150 meters above sea level. The Malvasia spent 12 months in 80% new barriques and the result is a beautifully complex wine with aromatics of orchard fruits, orange zest, honey blossoms and almond along with and crushed stone nuances all coming together beautifully in this fabulous white. The palate is richly textured, opulent, yet remarkably well balanced and poised, with gorgeous underlying acidity at its core, keeping it fresh and inviting through the mouthwatering finish. This Malvasia is amongst the most captivating I have tasted, and while certainly delightful now, readers should expect this to evolve and become even more appealing with some short-term cellaring.
