The L'Age D'Or is a truly fabulous Chardonnay from Soliste. The vines, which were planted in 1971 are some of oldest in the Russian River Valley. It displays very complex aromas of baked apple, lemon tart, white pepper, orange peel, fresh mineral, dragon fruit, Asian pear, hints of butter, saline and fresh white flowers. It is vibrant and focused on the front palate, with refined and pure flavors of fresh fruit, citrus curd, and mineral. All of this comes together on the long, elegant finish. Stylistically this is very Meursault-like, but shows the terroir of the Russian River Valley. It was aged in 100% French Oak Taransaud 600L (33% new) for 16 months and is approachable now, but can benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age and will last 10 - 15 years.
