The 2013 Cristal is another simply striking vintage for this iconic Champagne. This is a belnd of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay which comes from a notablt late October harvest. The result is a riveting wine, which is elegant and precise as it slowly opens with striking aromatics of crisp apples, white floral blossoms, toasted hazelnut and mineral nuances which all take shape beautifully in the glass. On the palate this possesses wonderful freshness with beautiful ripe fruit at its core that is framed by gorgeous minerality. This continues to impress with its stunning texture and finesse, along with remarkable overall balance. The mouthfeel possesses wonderful richness and texture with a well-defined structure that shows remarkable focus all the way through the finish. Unlike some recent vintages, the 2013 appears as if it will require some extended bottle age before it hits its stride. Nonetheless, this is nothing short of a brilliant vintage which has the potential to age gracefully for many years to come.
