The 2018 Roberta's Reserve is another fantastic release from Kapcsándy in this vintage. Composed of 98% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, it begins to impress with its stunning aromatics of red/dark currants and dark plums, which are woven together with spices, licorice, fresh spring florals, herbs and tobacco to form the gorgeous perfumed nose. On the palate this is medium/full bodied and impeccably structured with beautifully polished tannins. It goes on to display incredible overall focus and balance, with gorgeous underlying acidity adding a lovely sense of freshness as it leads up to the incredibly long finish. The 2018 will require some additional bottle age before it hits its stride, however it is one of the finest examples of Merlot being made in Napa and should go on to have an absolutely brilliant future ahead.
