The 2018 'Three Kings' Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely majestic release from Carter Cellars in this vintage. This Clone 7 Cabernet was sourced from Carter's rows in the back of Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. The wine itself opens to deep and expressive aromas of ripe black currants, blueberries and crème de cassis, which are laced with violets, pencil shavings, tilled-soil and crushed gravel that all explode from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied with incredible depth and concentration. It goes on to display a wonderful rich, layered texture, with a dense core of gorgeous ripe dark fruits that expands through the long, mouthcoating finish. This is an absolutely regal Cabernet that is stunning today, but should become even more compelling with a few years of bottle age.
