The 2017 Stags Leap District is another excellent release from Cliff Lede in this vintage. It opens to a wonderful aromatic profile of ripe blackberries, black cherries and hints of boysenberries, which are accented by spices, tobacco, fresh tilled soil and wildflowers all coming together beautifully. On the palate this possesses a medium to full body with excellent overall balance, combining ripe fruit and lovely underlying acidity that provides a sense of freshness through the long, supple finish. This is a beautifully made wine that should go on to evolve gracefully over the next decade or even longer.
