The 2017 Stags Leap District 'Dancing Heart' is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot, and 1% Malbec which has been sourced from estate vineyard blocks that are named after Cliff’s favorite rock songs and albums. The name of this blend comes from Rush’s "Closer to the Heart" in the Poetry vineyard and from Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark" in the Twin Peaks vineyard. The wine itself is stunning, as it opens to a wonderful aromatic profile of ripe blackberries and black cherries, which are joined by mint, spices, dark choctolate, graphite, sweet spices and fresh tilled soil that all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this possesses a full body with a seamless texture and excellent overall depth and concentration leading up to the long, layered finish that is marked by dark fruits, graphite and spice flavors. This is simply delicious today, however it also should go on to to offer a drinking window that spans a decade or longer.
