The 2018 Carneros Chardonnay from Tor is absolutely sublime. This barrel selection is sourced from three historic Chardonnay vineyards, The Beresini Vineyard, Hyde Vineyard and Durell vineyard, each adding their own special character. As far as the wine itself, this instantly opens to seductive aromatics of poached pear, lemon oil, pineapple, crème brûlée, honeysuckle and lovely mineral undertones that all soar from the glass. On the palate this is beautifully textured with a wonderful Meursault-like richness, while at the same time showing outstanding balance and focus through the sultry finish. This is a simply marvelous Chardonnay from Tor that is delicious now, but should also evolve nicely over the next few years.
