The 2016 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon from Cliff Lede is an absolute monster. This colossal wine instantly grabs your attention with its impressive opaque, dark inky color and intense aromas of ripe black and blue fruits which are joined by fresh violets, graphite and sweet exotic spices that all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, powerful and deeply layered with incredible concentration and amazing overall depth. This towering Cabernet goes on to impress as it structured with massive tannins, yet shows gorgeous velvety texture. The dense core is laced with rich flavors of sweet black and blue that combine sweet spices and graphite, as it continues to build generous layers leading up to the extremely long, mouth-coating finish. The 2016 is an absolutely monumental Cabernet from Winemaker Christopher Tynan that holds nothing back and while this is certainly immense in its youth, I expect it will settle down and evolve exceptionally well for many years to come.
