The 2016 Stags Leap District Cabernet is another outstanding showing in this vintage. The blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc was sourced from the hillside terraces of the Poetry Vineyard, as well as the Twin Peaks Vineyard estate surrounding the winery, and a few neighboring vineyards in the Stags Leap District. It instantly opens to inviting aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, graphite, baking spices, savory herbs and mocha nuances which all soaring from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied red possess outstanding overall depth and concentration, with gorgeous layers of ripe dark fruits, mocha and spices that expand on to the long supple finish. This is absolutely outstanding today and should also continue to drink beautifully over the course of the next decade and beyond.
