Melanson Vineyard is located high atop Pritchard Hill, sitting above the fog line at an elevation between 1,100 - 1,380 feet above sea level and overlooks some the most renowned properties in all of Napa. The 2016 'Matthew’s Block' Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely exceptional release. As this fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon slowly unwinds it beings to release incredibly seductive aromas lead by ripe blackcurrants and dark cherries which are accompanied by graphite, sweet exotic spices, sage, fresh wild flowers and earthy minerals that all develop beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully structured with a gorgeous plush, velvety texture and incredible overall concentration. It continues to impress with its remarkable depth and beautiful ripe core that yields marvelous flavors of blackcurrants which are nuanced by sweet exotic spices and underlying hints dark chocolate that all continue to build up to the long persistent finish. While the 2016 is simply magnificent today, it also clearly possesses the potential to offer an extended drinking window that could span decades.
