QUILCEDA CREEK Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley 2016

The 2016 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely stunning in this vintage. This explodes open with seductive aromas of fresh blackberries, creme de cassis and black cherries which are accented by graphite, violets, mocha and herbs that all come together beautifully. The full-bodied palate is plush and utterly seamless, as it shows remarkable overall balance with gorgeous underlying acidity adding a wonderful sense of freshness. It goes on to display outstanding concentration all the way through the long, lavish finish. While this is simply irresistible today, it also has the potential to evolve in the cellar for decades. Sourced from Champoux, Lake Wallula, Palengat, and Wallula vineyards, this is an absolutely marvelous wine from Quilceda Creek.

The 2016 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a simply stunning and seamless release from Quilceda Creek. Winemaker Paul Golitzin has crafted an absolute beauty from this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that was sourced from the Champoux, Wallula and Lake Wallula Vineyards and was aged in 100% new French oak prior to bottling. On the nose this takes on wonderful toasty oak character that wraps around blueberry compote, Turkish coffee, with shades of violets, exotic spices, anise and sagebrush accents. The balance and silky texture imparted in the wine is scintillating. Layers of mocha, blueberry cordial, sagebrush, crème de cassis and shades of eucalyptus flavors all marvelously combine on the palate and build up to the exceedingly long finish. Tasted this wine over several hours it becomes more approachable and and harmonious after some time in the glass. A true tour de force, the 2016 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is amongst with the finest wines ever made from this estate.
