The 2016 Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolute sensational showing from Rudius. Made from 100% Clone 4 Cabernet, this instantly begins to impress as it releases striking aromatics of ripe black currants and blueberries laced with savory herbs, tobacco, graphite, charcoal, licorice and a dusting of cinnamon. On the palate this is full-bodied and well structured, backed by nicely polished tannins that frame the core of ripe, juicy Cabernet fruit. It goes on to display excellent concentration and depth, with lovely underlying acidity that keeps it fresh and inviting as it bursts on to the long, supple finish. There is nothing not to love about this outstanding Cabernet from Jeff Ames, as it offers instant appeal, yet should also cellar beautifully over the course of the next two decades.
