The 2015 'St. Henri' Shiraz is a total knockout from Penfolds. It was aged in extremely large 50+ year-old vats and includes a tiny portion of Cabernet Sauvignon (7%) in the final blend. The wine itself beings with deep and wonderfully perfumed aromatics reminiscent of blueberry compote, black tea, mocha and anise that soar from the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous seamless texture, with layers of loganberry preserves, blueberry compote, mocha and crushed mint flavors which envelop the palate. Decadent and multidimensional, this is an absolutely sensational wine which is showing wonderful early appeal, but also displays excellent potential to evolve beautifully in the cellar over the course of the next two decades.
