The Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon from Spottswoode is a fantastic showing in this vintage. Made from grapes grown in Spottswoode's Estate Vineyard along with some other sites around Napacthe 2015 is composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot which spent 20 months French oak barrels (new 43%). The wine itself begins with inviting aromas of ripe blackberries and blueberries along with sweet spices, graphite and hints of fresh spring florals that all come together in the glass. On the palate this possesses a full body with gorgeous round texture and beautifully polished tannins that are nicely integrated. Displaying remarkable concentration this continues to impress until the very end, as ripe dark fruits and a mix of sweet spices leave a long lasting impression on the opluent finish. While this is absolutely delicious and accessible now, it should also hold up nicely in the cellar for decade or even longer.
