Composed of 70% Merlot from Mt. Veeder along with 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, the 2015 Template Red begins with inviting aromatics of ripe blackberries, currants and plum woven together with sweet spices, herbs, mocha, graphite and hints of cedar all taking shape in the glass. Full-bodied, with a gorgeous velvety texture and excellent overall depth and concentration. Layers of ripe currants, sweet spices, mocha and graphite continue to glide across the palate and linger effortlessly on the long, plush finish. A flat-out delicious wine from David Ramey which is already showing a great deal of early appeal, but will surely become even more compelling with bottle age.
