The 2015 ‘CJ’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a total beauty. This gorgeous blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot spent 19 months in 30% new French oak. It begins with inviting aromas of raspberries and wild cherries woven together with spices, dried florals and graphite with hints of black tea and herbs all taking shape. On the palate this medium to full-bodied red is firmly structured, yet the tannins possess a lovely roundness, making the wine instantly appealing. It continues to impress as it displays remarkable overall balance and wonderful depth, with lovely acidity at its core providing a sense of freshness as it heads into the long finish. Overall, this is a simply striking, age-worthy wine from the incredibly talented, Philippe Melka, which will certainly continue to drink beautifully for many years.
