The 2011 Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvée Réservée' is beautiful, with seductive aromas of ripe dark cherries and raspberry which are layered in roasted herbs, smoke, spices, tar, fresh lavender and stony minerals, even hints of chocolate begin to emerge with air. This has a pure silky texture that's shows nice structure and displays incredible balance and focus straight through the long velvety finish. Composed of about 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre, and 6% other authorized varietals including Counoise, Cinsault, Vaccarèse, and others from vines averaging 60+ years in age.
