As the 2011 Domaine Saint Prefert Collection Charles Giraud slowly unwinds, it releases aromas of fresh raspberries, cherry reduction, lavender, licorice, spices, herbs and hints of cocoa, which carry over nicely onto the palate. This is impressive for its structure, velvety texture and long silky finish. If considering approaching this early on, it would be best to have some patience and allow it time to settle down, as the 15% alcohol is a little aggressive at this stage. Composed of 60% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre from 60-80 year old vines. Aged in 3-year-old demi-muids. 100% non-destalked. (Best 2016-2025) - April, 2013 (JD)
