DOMAINE SERENE Pinot Noir, Côte Sud Vineyard 2013

Another stunning release from Domaine Serene in this vintage, the 2013 'Côte Sud' Pinot Noir impresses for its intensity and complex characteristics. This compelling Pinot Noir was aged for 15 months in French oak (64% new) prior to bottling. Having a darker hue than most Pinot's from this vintage, this impressive wine opens with aromatics of red cherries and raspberries woven together with black truffle and spicebox. On the palate this displays concentrated flavors wild blackberry, black cherries, black raspberry with hints of nutmeg and a touch of fresh Shitake mushroom. It remains beautifully balanced, focused and polished, through the finish. Although I expect this will continue to evolve beautifully over the course of next decade, it is simply delicious today.
