The 2013 'King Coal' is a fantastic release from K Vintners, which beautifully showcases this warm vintage. This dark, opaque red opens with aromatics of blood orange, blackberry pie, red cherries and prune. There are rich, concentrated flavors reminiscent of black cherries, black tea, cassis and anise. Intense and layered, this wine has a silky mouthfeel and a gorgeous texture. Showing wonderful range, this will cellar well into the next decade but is nearly impossible to resist right now.
