The 2013 Doubleback Cabernet is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec. They chose to source from a host of Walla Walla vineyards including McQueen, Bob Healy, LeFore, Seven Hills, Pepper Bridge and Waliser. Winemaker Josh McDaniels aged this in 75% new French oak and 25% second fill French oak barrels for 22 months. This decadent bottling has dense aromas of red currant, sandalwood, blackberry compote, mocha and roasted figs. This leads to rich flavors of graphite, dill, blackberry cobbler, anise and spicebox with moderate tannins. This really needs another two plus years of bottle age. A slumbering giant right now.
