The 2017 'In The Hills' Syrah has 10% Viognier co-fermented. The nose is incredibly complex with barn floor, blood orange, meat blood, iodine, fresh tobacco and sage nuances that all come together in the glass. On the palate this is displaying gobs of mouth-watering acidity, with remarkable freshness and tension, with gorgeous weight. It continues to entice, as the wine seamlessly glides across the mid-palate leaving behind suggestions of dried herbs, white truffle, blackberry jam, pipe tobacco and peat moss flavors that all combine marvelously. This show-stopping Syrah is seriously impressive right now, but will all cellar well for at least another decade.
