The 2022 Summum is a scintillating effort from the magicians at Evening Land. Spice-driven on the nose, it glistens with a fluorescent ruby and purple core, moving to a light blue rim in the glass. Easily mistaken for a Premier or Grand Cru Burgundy in a blind, it’s an almost perfect example of what Oregon Pinot Noir can be. Crushed strawberries, red and black cherries, citrus peel, wet-turned earth, toasted anise, and dried thyme tones are perfectly balanced alongside the perfect levels of acidity, smooth, rich tannins, and a perfectly formed finish that envelopes the entire palate. Better in 2025 and then enjoy over the next 15 years with proper cellaring.
