The 2017 Mourvèdre from ungrafted, century old vines is worth every penny and then some. From deep sandy soils along the Sacramento River Delta, cement fermentation and partial stem inclusions have attributed to the wine’s soft yet firm structure. On the nose it exposes lavender, blackberry, and bay laurel while the palate is further enriched with brambly characters and white pepper. This wine’s delightful complexity makes a statement of the true potential for California Mourvèdre.
