The 2012 Martha’s Vineyard is a simply sensational showing in this vintage. Martha's Vineyard is 34 gently sloping acres on the western side of the Napa Valley, just south of Oakville. The vineyard is situated near the Mayacamas foothills and soaks up the morning sun and then cools down a bit earlier than the rest of valley floor. This certified organic vineyard spans across a graveled alluvial plain, where the vines are fringed with towering Eucalyptus trees. The result is a simply gorgeous, classic style of Napa Valley Cabernet, which offers utterly compelling aromas of blackberries and dark currants woven together with spices, fresh tobacco and the distinct mint character this wine is known for possessing. On the palate this is full-bodied, polished and beautifully showcases lovely concentrated fruit with remarkable overall balance and depth. Everything comes together beautifully on the long, plush finish which lingers on and on. This is a simply magnificent effort from this historic Vineyard, which will continue to thrive in the cellar for years to come. (Best 2020-2035) - May, 2017 (JD)
