Rombauer has gained a national reputation for their Zinfandel and this is another excellent bottling from this estate. The wine was sourced from a host of California regions including El Dorado (50%), Amador (25%), Lake (14%) and Napa (11%) counties. With 6% Petite Sirah blended in, the wine was aged for 14 months in American oak (10% new) prior to bottling. This heady Zinfandel begins with aromatics of smoke, red cherries, red raspberry preserves and sassafras. There are ripe flavors of black cherry syrup, raspberry, milk chocolate, rhubarb pie and hints of baking spices. This forward and delicious Zinfandel is approachable now.
