The 2013 Fume Blanc 'Reserve' is a wonderful late release from Robert Mondavi Winery, and is one of the best of its kind. The wine begins with aromatics of crushed pink grapefruit, pear and white peach with lemongrass. This leads to bright flavors of starfruit, pink grapefruit, white peach and hints of cut grass. Rich and layered, this is simply delicious. On the palate, this round and silky, with an almost unctuous mouthfeel as it heads into the finish. This should be enjoyed within the next seven years, and I could certinaly see this making a wonderful pairing if accompanied with seared scallops with black winter truffles.
