CAKEBREAD CELLARS Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2013

The 2013 Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an impressive showing in this vintage. This blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon 9% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot bursts open with wonderful freshness and attractive aromas of ripe cherries and black plums woven together with exotic spices, roasted coffee along with a lovely savory and earthy edge. On the palate this is full-bodied with remarkable depth and concentration. It possesses outstanding structure and balance with wonderful ripe fruit at its core. Dark plums and sweet spices continue to linger on the long velvety finish. Excellent now, but this is sure to evolve even further with some additional cellaring. Previous Tasting Notes from November 2015:
The 2013 Cakebread Cabernet is a blend of 83% cabernet sauvignon 9% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, 3% petit verdot. As this begins to open it releases aromas of black cherries and dark currant followed by spices, loam and a savory note. This is full-bodied and layered with a gorgeous plush texture that expands beautifully onto the finish. While this is approachable upon release it will continue to evolve over the course of next decade. (Best 2016-2026) - 91 Points (JD)
