Located in Napa Valley, the Grande Vineyard was planted by an Italian immigrant, Theodosio Grande, in 1920, to commemorate the year of his daughter's birth. Biale has succeeded in making an exceptionally rich and luscious Zinfandel in this very hot vintage. This deep colored wine begins with aromatics of prune, loganberry preserves and milk chocolate. This leads to rich flavors of black cherry, anise, Christmas spice, black plum and mocha. Not for the weary, the Zin is massive and bold. (Best 2016-2026) - July, 2016 (OB)
