The 2012 ‘Volcanic Hill’ Cabernet Sauvignon is an sensational wine from Diamond Creek. This majestic Cabernet comes from Diamond Creek's warmest micto-climate, which certaily reflects in the wine as it opens with striking aromas of ripe dark cherries and black raspberries woven together with sweet spices, graphite, spring florals, dark chocolate shavings and hints of scorched earth, which all take shape beautifully in the glass. On the palate this full-bodied, beautifully polished Cabernet continues to impress with its wonderful concentration and depth along with remarkable overall balance, precision and well defined structure. This doesn’t miss a beat as it offers wonderful opulent mouthfeel as it seamlessly delivers layer upon layer of gorgeous ripe fruits, which build up, and cascade on to the multidimensional finish. The 2012 Volcanic Hill is a masterpiece from winemaker Phil Steinschriber, which already shows so much personality, however this age worthy red will ultimately be best with age, and should continue to drink well for many years to come.
