ROBERT BIALE Zinfandel 'Black Chicken' 2014

The phrase, "Black Chicken," was named by Aldo Biale, who used the name as a code word when he began making wine in the 1940s and didn't divulge his secret to certain family members. This expressive and balanced Zinfandel begins with aromatics of prune, red cherry and red raspberry with suggestions of nutmeg. There are rich flavors of red cherry, dill, molasses and prune. Lovely texture to this wine that finishes long. While this generous Zin is delicious right now, I think there is also some good aging potential. (Best 2016-2025) - May, 2016 (OB)
