The 2012 Merlot from Grgich Hills comes from vineyards in the southern Napa Valley. It is a refined wine which includes 5% Cabernet Sauvignon to the 95% Merlot and offers aromas and flavors or red berries, spices, pepper and minerals which all begin to slowly take shape in the glass. Medium-bodied and structured around fine tannins and a lingering finish. If approaching this early, it will demand several hours of air contact, but will ultimately be best with additional bottle age. (Best 2018-2026) - December, 2015 (JD)
