ARTESA Albarino 2014

Artesa elected to plant Albariño 20 years ago on one of the coolest and highest hillside blocks in their estate vineyard. The wine was harvested in October 2014 and was aged 5 months in stainless steel (85%) and new French oak (15%) It opens with aromas of pear, Granny Smith apple, persimmons and starfruit. This leads to flavors of unripe pear, red delicious apple, cut grass and gooseberry. The Albarino is mineral driven with nice viscosity. There is a nice and clean finish to this wine that lingers. This is an impressive and novel effort that truly grows on you with each sip and is hard to resist right now. (Best 2015-2020) - November, 2015 (OB)
