The 2012 is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot from vineyards in Rutherford (Garvey Home Ranch), Yountville (Clos Valmi Vineyard) and St. Helena (Robbins Vineyard). The fruit was aged in 62% new French Oak and 38% neutral for 22 months. As it begins to open in the glass it offers aromas of red cherries and blackberries woven together with notes of minerals and mocha. This possesses a medium-full body with clean, silky texture which carries on through the finish. A refined, more traditional style of Cabernet from winemaker Tom Reeves which should continue to develop with additional bottle age. (Best 2016-2024) - November, 2015 (JD)
