The 2010 Diamond Creek ‘Volcanic Hill’ is a fantastic showing, dark and brooding with an opaque deep purple color. This begins a bit restrained, but it's not long after air contact until the seductive aromas of black cherries ripe cassis, smoke, anise, chocolate and dusty minerals soar from the glass. It’s beautifully structured with velvety tannins, which are well integrated into the full-body. Black cherry, mocha and dusty minerals make an encore on the finish, where they carry on leaving a lasting impression. This is a knockout, and while it is approachable now, the best years are still yet to come for the Volcanic Hill. (Best 2016-2030) - January, 2014 (JD)
