Sourced entirely from Red Mountain, the 2017 'La Cote Rousse' Syrah includes a dash has a touch of Viognier blended in (3%) spent thirteen months in French oak prior to bottling. The nose shows really nice high toned aromatics with lemon zest accents that combine with black fruits and tar nuances. The palate displays strong energy and verve, with flavors of black olive tapenade, black tea, Asian spices and copious dark fruits that build up to the finish. While this is certainly appealing today, I expect it will comtinue to evolve gracefully for at least another ten years.
