The 2014 Renwood 'Old Vine' Zinfandel is an awesome value from this estate. Coming from one of the earliest harvests in history, the wine is blended from 30 different lots of old vine Zinfandel ranging in age from 50-103 years old. The wine was aged for 21 months in 30% new French oak prior to bottling in June 2016. The resultant wine opens with aromatics reminiscent of prune, dill, red cherry and rose petal accents. This leads to flavors of black plum, black cherry and candied raspberry. This has a plush mouthfeel which leads into the spice-tinged finish. Amazingly there are 14,000 cases made.
