The 2013 Sonoma Coast bottling from MacRostie is a fantastic showing. They chose 20% new French oak for this wine, as there is a moderate oak influence. The Chardonnay was sourced from a host of vineyards including their Estate Wildcat vineyard, as well as Dutton family and Martinelli family vineyards. This excellent Chardonnay opens with vivid aromas of butter, brioche, Meyer lemon rind, poached pear and nutmeg. On the palate there are flavors of Meyer lemon, brioche, Japanese pear with notable brighness and acidity leading into a lingering, weighty finish. (Best 2016-2023) - May, 2016 (OB)
