The 2012 LaRue Rice-Spivak Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from a 6 acre vineyard just south of Sebastopol. The soils are mainly Goldridge sandy loam with some volcanic ash. The wine irtself has exotic nose which combines aromas of fresh raspberry, crushed redcurrant, strawberries, pomegranate and rose petal, accented by fresh herbs and white pepper. This is pure and focused showing a lovely balance of fruit and acidity which carries on into the long mineral driven finish. Overall, this is an age worthy Pinot Noir that is still very youthful and will demand a few years of bottle age. (Best 2018-2032) - April, 2015 (MD)
